What is Natural Health Product?
Natural health is a self-care system of natural therapies which can restore health and wellness by working with the innate curative powers of the human body.. Natural health products can be vitamins, minerals, herbs or other plants, amino acids (the individual building blocks of protein), or parts of those substances. Natural Health products are available many forms like capsule, tablet, or liquid form etc.
All the wonders that nature offers for our health are available a massive type of colors, shapes and sizes, without the employment of synthetic additives and dyes. We utilize targeted testing to assure the correct identity and potency of each natural product we provide.
People have used the active ingredients in natural health products for thousands of years to help health and to treat illness. Sometimes those natural products are the basis for some of today’s common medicines. For example, in Malaysia people use Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia) to treat a variety of ailments, including male infertility and infections. Eurycoma longifolia extract helped to enhance man sexual performance and increase muscle mass. In addition, Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila) is traditionally used to maintain a healthy female reproductive system, to help tighten and lubricate, and enhance female sexual desire.
- A desire for medicines that come from nature and do not contain toxic or synthesised chemicals
- Natural medicines work well alongside other forms of medicine
- Natural health looks at the whole person not just a specific disease

Example of Natural Herbs
Here’s a look at some of the more common natural herbs best for your supplement.
Medicinal mushrooms with therapeutic importance are being utilized for the treatment of a variety of severe manifestations. Particularly, Ophiocordyceps sinensis, a genus of ascomycete fungi, which parasitize mainly on insects and other arthropods, has been intensively studied in various disease models. This fungus is found naturally in the Tibetan Plateau and neighboring regions, including China, Nepal, Tibet, and India. The presence of nucleosides, polysaccharides, sterols, steroids, and other bioactive compounds of O. sinensis make its use in replenish kidney and treatment of fatigue, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, hyposexualities, renal failure, arrhythmias, and other heart diseases, and liver disorders. The fungus has also given the reliable results in different organ malfunctioning by controlling the cytokines, chemokines, and oxidative stress induced proteins level which are involved in several human malignancies. This chapter highlights the multiple therapeutic roles of O. sinensis as dietary supplements with possible in vitro and in vivo clinical evidence and interactions/toxicity.
The effects of Eurycoma longifolia Jack, commonly known as Tongkat Ali in Malaysia, on the initiation of sexual performance and the weights of sexual accessories in inexperienced castrated male rats. The doses of 200, 400 and 800 mg/kg body weight, which were extracted from E. longifolia Jack, were orally administered to the rats twice daily for 10 days prior to the tests and continued throughout the test period. Testosterone was used as a positive control after injecting 15 mg/kg daily subcutaneously for 32 days. Results showed that E. longifolia Jack produced a dose-dependent increase in sexual performance of the treated animals, but the E. longifolia Jack groups showed lower sexual performance in mounting, intromission and ejaculation than the testosterone group. Further results also showed that E. longifolia Jack promoted the growth of both ventral prostate and seminal vesicles as compared with the control, but the growth of sexual accessories at 800 mg/kg of butanol, methanol, water and chloroform fractions of E. longifolia Jack was less than that of testosterone treated group. The present study therefore gives further evidence of the folkuse of E. longifolia as an aphrodisiac.
Paste prepared from the leaves and coconut oil is rubbed on baby’s abdomen to relieve stomach discomfort. Kacip Fatimah has been traditionally used by the Malay women for many generations in childbirth in inducing and eases delivery, as a post partum medication to help the birth channel, to regain body strength, regulate menstrual cycle and avoid painful and to alleviate menopausal symptoms. The plant is traditionally boiled and the water extraction is taken as a drink. Other traditional uses include treating dysentery, rheumatism, and gonnorhoea. This plant will also help to firm the abdominal muscles. Scientific studies found that the medicinal properties and biological activities of Kacip Fatimah are due to the presence of phyto-estrogen (plant estrogen) that is naturally found in this plant.
Smilax myosotiflora has been claimed in Malay traditional medicine to improve sexual functions in men. As this claim is not scientifically tested and proven, the present study aimed to investigate the effects of methanolic extract of S. myosotiflora tubers upon the expression on fertility and sexual behavior parameters in Sprague Dawley male rats. Forty eight sexually experienced male rats were divided into four groups (A-D). Rats in group A were administered with 0.4 ml of distilled water (vehicle) while groups B, C and D received 200, 400 and 800 mg/kg of the extract in 0.4 ml of the vehicle. After 30 days of treatment, fertility test was evaluated by pairing the male rats with 2 untreated females, 3 hours daily for a maximum of 2 weeks. Subsequently, sexual behavior was monitored and recorded by caging male rat with receptive female in estrus phase for 30 minutes. Results showed that S. myosotiflora extract significantly (p<0.05) improved fertility index. All doses of S. myosotiflora tested significantly (p<0.05) reduced mount and intromission latency and improved copulatory rate. The rats on 400 mg/kg showed a marked improvement (p<0.05) in the number of intromissions. Further, male rats that were treated with 800 mg/kg of the extract were found to significantly (p<0.05) reduced ejaculation latency and inter-intromission interval, and pronounced significant (p<0.05) increase in ejaculation frequency. In conclusion, oral administration of S. myosotiflora extract enhanced fertility and stimulated sexual behavior parameters in male rats.
Compounds isolated from the fruit peel of mangosteen contain abundant xanthones, for example: α-mangostin, β-mangostin, γ-mangostin, gartanin, 8-deoxygartanin, and mangostanol. α-mangostin represents the majority of the clinical benefits of this plant, therefore determination of the concentration of α-mangostin as a chemical marker to quality control of G. mangostana and its products is usually done and marked in labels. Nowadays, mangosteen extract is also popularly applied to cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.
